At Housing for New Hope, we see the impact of partnership each and every day. Partnerships with landlords, community agencies, healthcare providers, government agencies – and supporters like YOU – make our work not only possible, but truly impactful.
We’ve seen this kind of community impact in the life of Mary who has been part of the HNH community since 2013.
Mary had been in and out of emergency shelters for four years, struggling with both substance use disorder and mental health challenges. Her substance use challenges were significant, making it impossible to maintain stable housing. Mary connected with one of our community partners who helped her complete an application for Andover Apartments, one of our supportive housing communities. Mary now has stable housing and is self-sufficient.
In September, after eight years at Andover Apartments, Mary was able to take advantage of a Housing Choice Voucher from the Durham Housing Authority. Our Housing Location & Navigation Team assisted Mary in locating a new apartment right here in Durham. Mary proudly put her brand-new apartment keys on her black Narcotics Anonymous keyring, symbolizing many years of sobriety.
As a community, we’re partnering together to connect our most vulnerable neighbors to housing and hope – day by day, and year by year. Join our team of supporters and help more people like Mary by making a gift today.
